KAGE-JIMA

The Shadow City of The Sea

DESCRIPTION:

No data ever recovered.

Kage-Jima is an artificial island city located east of Japan, and serves as the default setting for Oldenpunk.

Kage-Jima was founded in 1111 by several fleeing factions of criminal and religious background, together building a small collection of cobbled temples and unorganized settlements peppered upon the shadowed mist island, northeast of the grand mainland of Nippon.

And so it was, in the year 1200, after a successfully mapped route by previous crews, a secret mass evacuation of the populace of mainland Nippon took place, and they fled to Kage-Jima, where the persecuted could seek refuge assuming they are “decent”, but why verify when you can pay, Kage-Jima needs funding to build itself after all.

By the year 1212, the open-door sanctuary policy ended as Kage-Jima had become a rapidly growing urban region, surging with violence and crime thought to be the work of spies, but with strong economic growth and overall safety, thanks to the presence of multiple Grand-factions – the shadowed island persisted. But alas, the Faction War almost brought ruin to the land when rebel cyborgs created a rift into realms unknown at Data Station 1, this chaos unleashed seems like the beginning of the end.

And now, in the Time of Shadows, Kage-Jima doth regenerate from the ravages of the past tumultuous decades, yet remains an armed society, surrounded by an existence built on blood and bone. Verily, it is not uncommon to see as many swords as satchels upon the bustling dark roads. Though the worst days of chaos may seem over to some, the danger doth yet remain. For the realm, as we knew it, hath transformed, and things shall never be the same.

Services are spotty,Services are spotty, the law is chancy, and one canst not run the RLM to the edge of the earth anymore, much less drift up to The High Realms. Yet, in general, entities do coexist in Kage-Jima. Thou mayst not be able to acquire the latest arcane agent or the finest weapons forged, but thanks to the explosion of rooftop and green-wall gardens, bandit solar collectors, and refabbed hardware from thine friendly neighborhood tech, thou art actually eating better, have access to more reliable power and gear, and can even count on the local seeker to set thee up with what thou desires, within reason and cost. Of course – everyone answers to those who’ve forged and protected the city in the end, The Black Rose Order – ronin and peasants, The Artso Clan – religious warriors & artists, and The Supernatural – creatures and entities beyond understanding.
