The Oldenpunk Intellectual Property (IP) Policy

A Message from the First Steward

The mission of Oldenpunk has always been to build a “community-available library of source materials and tools” through “collective knowledge and creativity.” We seek to forge futures from the lessons of the past. This document is a foundational chronicle, created to ensure that as our universe expands, we do so with fairness, respect, and a shared understanding.

Our goal is twofold: to empower our community to “Forge your realm” and create amazing works within the Oldenpunk universe, and to protect the core vision and integrity of the world we are all building together. These terms are designed not as restrictions, but as the stable ground upon which we can all build a “more stable tomorrow.”

1. The Oldenpunk IP

The “Oldenpunk IP” refers to all original names, characters, stories, concepts, settings, artwork, logos, and any other creative materials associated with the Oldenpunk universe created by [Data Station 0]. This includes all content published on the official Oldenpunk website, in official publications, and on associated social media channels.

2. The Core Canon

The Core Canon refers to the specific stories, characters, and plotlines created directly by [Data Station 0]. These are the primary chronicles of the Oldenpunk universe. While the universe is open for others to explore, the Core Canon remains the exclusive creative domain of its original author. No one is permitted to write stories using the Core Canon characters or directly continuing the Core Canon plotlines without explicit permission.

3. Non-Commercial Fan Work License

We wholeheartedly encourage our community to create Fan Works. A “Fan Work” is a non-commercial project created by a fan that is based on or inspired by the Oldenpunk IP.

You are hereby granted a limited, revocable, non-exclusive license to create non-commercial Fan Works, provided you adhere to the following conditions:

  • It Must Be Free: Your Fan Work must be available to the community for free. You may not charge money for it, place it behind a paywall, use it to generate ad revenue, or use it to promote a commercial product. This includes, but is not limited to, fan fiction, artwork, personal TTRPG campaign notes, and non-monetized videos.
  • Give Credit Where It’s Due: You must provide clear and visible credit to the original creator. Please include the following notice on your work or its accompanying description:“This is an unofficial fan work based on the Oldenpunk IP, created by [Data Station 0]. Oldenpunk is the property of [DataStation 0].
  • Respect the Spirit of Oldenpunk: Your Fan Work should not contain hateful, defamatory, or explicit content that violates the core philosophy of “interlinked coexistence” and “righteous rebellion.”

The creation of a Fan Work does not grant you any ownership of the Oldenpunk IP. We, as the Stewards of this universe, reserve the right to revoke this license for any individual or project at our discretion.

4. Commercial Use Policy

Any and all commercial use of the Oldenpunk IP is strictly prohibited without a formal, written licensing agreement.

“Commercial Use” includes, but is not limited to:

  • Selling any product (novels, comics, merchandise, etc.) that uses the Oldenpunk IP.
  • Creating a video game, board game, or TTRPG for sale.
  • Using the Oldenpunk IP in any project funded by Kickstarter, Patreon, or any other crowdfunding or monetization platform.
  • Any use of the IP by a business or for-profit entity.

We are open to the possibility of official collaborations and partnerships that align with the vision of Oldenpunk. If you are interested in pursuing a commercial project, please contact us to discuss a potential licensing agreement.

5. A Living Chronicle

The odyssey into the infinite realms of Oldenpunk is eternal. As the universe grows, these terms may need to evolve. We reserve the right to modify or update this policy at any time. The date of the most recent update will always be posted at the top of this document.
